Board of Health

Certain public health nursing services are delivered through a contract with the Community Visiting Nurse Association. The Community VNA provides blood pressure screenings, chronic disease management, vaccinations, child health clinics, and home visits for disabled and elderly residents. The Chester Borough Board of Health meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 PM.  The Board of Health is responsible for approving applications for new septic systems and the alteration or repair of septic systems; the drilling and abandonment of potable wells and food handling.  Applications for septic systems must be received in the secretary’s office ten (10) business days before the monthly meeting.

The Bernards Township Health Department is the Contractual Health Agency serving seven communities, including Bernard’s Township, Bernardsville, Chester Borough, Long Hill Township, Mendham Borough, Mendham Township and Peapack-Gladstone.  Each town has an independent Board of Health with a representative from the Bernards Township Health Department.
